Aims, History, Board Meeting Minutes, FinancesWhat is the Three Rivers Partnership?Three Rivers is a community partnership which simply put means that it aims to bring the communities in and around Gillingham together to plan for the future and to make that plan happen. Obviously it's a bit more complicated than that but the underlying principle behind it is that local people (whether working or living locally) get to influence what actually happens here. Gillingham is the largest town in North Dorset and has virtually doubled in size over two decades. The total population of this area is now in excess of 20,000 but public amenities have not kept pace with this growth. Three Rivers aims to help define the needs of the community, to develop solutions to these needs, establish projects and source funding for them. It does not replace local town or parish councils but lends strength to their work by co-operating closely with them and with district and county councils and other bodies. Our projects are hugely varied as can be seen by our Gillingham Area Action Plan. It would be impossible to carry out them all at the same time, so we create a work programme each year to help focus our activities.
