Town Meadow Group

The Town Meadow Group (TMG) is a group of volunteers responsible for enhancing Gillingham Town Meadow.

Gillingham Town Meadow can be found at the bottom of Gillingham High Street linking the main town to the Library and Waitrose. The Meadow includes a hardscape area for vehicles/market stalls/chalets/canopies. There is a pathway along our riverside walk, and an open grassy space for dog walkers to enjoy, with benches for more leisurely enjoyment. The Meadow covers about half the grassed area.

The purpose of the Meadow is to provide an area in the centre of Gillingham for community use. It should bring trade and activities to the town and also be attractive, with plants, shrubs and trees. The Meadow Plan will first address basic community and commercial aspects so that we can begin using the Meadow quickly. The planting, including new trees, will gradually mature and soften over time. As the space is popular with dog walkers and children play there it was decided that the grass in the central area needed to be kept short.

Further details of the Plan, the Team and Annual Reports can be found in the left hand menu. The TMG is also on Facebook, please see https://www.facebook.com/GillinghamTownMeadow2015/
